Sonia sets the tone for Empowering Change in 2018

sonia diabOur first speaker for the EMCA Educational Speaker Series in 2018 kicked off the year with a bang modernising the definition of sales to be inclusively about empowering others to make a change. Speaking to a packed out boardroom Sonia Diab (pictured right) created common ground in her 2 hour workshop with attendees adapting selling techniques to apply across stakeholder engagement, persuasive decision making and traditional notions of service and product transactions.

She discussed principles behind empowering change, steps for approaching a sale, tactics for handling objections and how to end interactions the right way. Attendees walked away understanding a formula for successful sales outcomes and a variety of techniques to ensure a more influential process.

Attendees welcomed Sonia’s enthusiastic energy and pragmatic approach and enjoyed networking with EMBA peers.

The Hon. Nathan Rees headlines first Inaugural EMCA Annual Dinner

The first inaugural EMCA Annual Dinner was held in September 2017 with special guest, former NSW Premier, the Hon. Nathan Rees. He gave a fascinating and rather frank speech on the workings of government from an insiders perspective and how businesses can influence the setting of policy regulation in their industry.

Mr Rees focused on giving attendees a better understanding of how to conduct business with government spoken from the viewpoint of someone who led NSW as Premier. He covered how government affects business through regulation, tenders, private public partnerships and consulting, dealing with lobbyists and industry groups, participating in policy submissions and how to navigate the decision making chain.

The Hon. Nathan Rees was the 41st Premier of NSW South Wales and Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Toongabbie from 2007 to 2015. Mr. Rees was the parliamentary leader of the NSW division of the Australian Labor Party from September 2008 to December 2009.

The dinner will occur again in 2018 with a new headline speaker.

The How behind the Why: Anne Moore on navigating organisational leadership in a new world

On Sunday 28 May Anne Moore ran a professional workshop for EMCA members which served as a guide for individuals, leaders and organisations navigating the new world.

EMBA member Mike spoke about the attendees experience on the day. “The workshop gave me that ‘light bulb’ moment. Anne elicited a 45 minute discussion when she started with a slide about the 4th Industrial Revolution – the advent of artificial intelligence networking and the transformation of the employment landscape in the next 10 years. Starting with the loss of traditional professional service jobs like accountants, lawyers and conveyancers, with anything which follows a process, but moving into logistics and driverless motor vehicles, Anne highlighted the transformation in the workplace from networked artificial intelligence which is rapidly evolving in front of our eyes”.

In addition to the focus on the future, attendees benefited from Anne’s insights and frank approach to challenging current thinking. An extract of Anne’s presentation is available via SlideShare below and her bio is linked below.
