The first inaugural EMCA Annual Dinner was held in September 2017 with special guest, former NSW Premier, the Hon. Nathan Rees. He gave a fascinating and rather frank speech on the workings of government from an insiders perspective and how businesses can influence the setting of policy regulation in their industry.
Mr Rees focused on giving attendees a better understanding of how to conduct business with government spoken from the viewpoint of someone who led NSW as Premier. He covered how government affects business through regulation, tenders, private public partnerships and consulting, dealing with lobbyists and industry groups, participating in policy submissions and how to navigate the decision making chain.
The Hon. Nathan Rees was the 41st Premier of NSW South Wales and Member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Toongabbie from 2007 to 2015. Mr. Rees was the parliamentary leader of the NSW division of the Australian Labor Party from September 2008 to December 2009.
The dinner will occur again in 2018 with a new headline speaker.
